Engineering Manager, Search Platforms - Machine Learning Infrastructure

Role Overview

This position involves leading the development and scaling of machine learning infrastructure that supports Search technologies at Google. The Engineering Manager will provide strategic technical leadership while managing a team of Software Engineers, fostering their growth, and steering the execution of large-scale projects internationally.

Responsibilities

• Direct and guide the technical vision and evolving strategy for machine learning infrastructure integral to Search platforms.
• Offer your team the necessary clarity, context, and assistance to solve complex challenges and implement lasting solutions.
• Assist your team in navigating uncertain or ambiguous situations, turning innovative ideas from initial concepts into production-ready systems.
• Prioritize the professional development and welfare of your engineers by cultivating a supportive, productive work environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field is required.
• At least 8 years of professional software development experience using languages such as C, C++, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Minimum 3 years of experience managing people and 2 years in a technical leadership capacity.
• Preferred advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical areas.
• Five or more years' experience working within complex organizational structures.
• Background in machine learning infrastructure is strongly advantageous.
