Elementary Counsellor

Role Overview

We are looking to engage an Elementary Counsellor for a part-time contract role at 40% FTE, equivalent to two days per week. The counsellor will provide support services to students across various elementary schools within the Williams Lake region, potentially including rural schools. The schedule will be finalized in coordination with the District Principal of Inclusive Education.

Compensation

Compensation will be determined according to the district's current salary grid following confirmation of your British Columbia Teacher Qualification Service (TQS) credentials and prior years of service validation. The annual salary range for this role is between $63,347 and $116,190, prorated for 40% FTE and distributed over ten months.

Qualifications and Eligibility

• The candidate must be legally authorized to work in Canada; note that this position does not qualify for LMIA sponsorship.
• A Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or a related discipline from an institution recognized by the Teacher Regulation Branch is required, along with training in school counselling theories and methods.
• Possession of a professional teaching certificate or eligibility for such certification in British Columbia, complemented by successful practicum or teaching experience.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning about local district and community resources.
• A valid British Columbia driver's license and access to a vehicle are mandatory.
• The ability to work independently is essential.
