About Phlair and the Role

Phlair is pioneering a breakthrough electrochemical Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology to extract CO2 from the atmosphere for permanent sequestration or conversion into carbon-negative chemicals. With proven commercial contracts from major companies such as Google, McKinsey, and JPMorgan Chase, Phlair is scaling its DAC technology through its flagship initiative, Project Dawn. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the Chief Scientific Officer to formulate and execute test protocols evaluating the performance and compliance of electrochemical stacks in a 260 tCO2/year DAC demonstrator.
• Work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain both internal and external test setups.
• Establish and sustain test infrastructure with a strong emphasis on quality assurance and dependability, including electrical wiring assessments.
• Analyze experimental data thoroughly and clearly communicate findings to the development team.
• Demonstrate adaptability and autonomy in a dynamic startup setting, taking ownership of challenges and contributing to the growth of a new sector.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience crafting and implementing test protocols.
• Knowledge of testing electrochemical cell stacks such as fuel cells, electrolysers, flow batteries, or similar technologies.
• Strong analytical aptitude with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
• Methodical attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities for maintaining test stands.
• A proactive mindset emphasizing rapid prototyping, testing, and delivery.
• Comfort with intense work periods including occasional long days and weekend work.
• Ability to work independently, taking full ownership of issues without needing close supervision.
• Commitment to high standards of quality and excellence.

Preferred Bonus Skills

• Basic scripting abilities for test automation using LabVIEW, Matlab, Python, or R-Studio.
• Formal certification or proven experience in electronics related to high-voltage DC/AC systems.

Work Environment

This position is fully onsite in Ismaning near Munich, Germany where the company's pilot plant is located. Collaboration and presence are vital to the team’s success.
