Electrical Design and Manufacturing Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design and Manufacturing Engineer to become a key member of our team in Jeddah. This role demands expertise in designing, fabricating, assembling, and testing electrical and control panels along with other related equipment. The role also entails leading teams and ensuring high-quality outcomes throughout the production process.

Main Duties

• Create designs for electrical power, control, and automation panels tailored to client specifications and in compliance with relevant standards.
• Develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts utilizing software like AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Choose suitable electrical components such as breakers, contactors, relays, variable frequency drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and protective devices.
• Formulate bills of materials, technical datasheets, and manufacturing documentation.
• Lead and guide the production team to guarantee precise assembly and wiring of panels.
• Oversee manufacturing and assembly processes to uphold quality and regulatory standards.
• Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical panels.
• Ensure compliance with international electrical codes including IEC, NEC, and UL.
• Coordinate with procurement, quality assurance, and project departments to fulfill project timelines and specifications.
• Offer technical assistance during installation, commissioning, and post-installation support.
• Identify avenues for improvements in design, cost efficiency, and manufacturing workflows.
• Recommend relevant certifications for technical team members and identify important industry programs to join such as Schneider Panel Builders as part of strategic planning.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing and manufacturing electrical panels or within the switchgear sector.
• Skilled in using design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.
• Comprehensive knowledge of low-voltage power distribution, motor control centers, and control panels.
• Familiarity with PLCs and automation technology will be beneficial.
• Strong grasp of IEC, UL, and electrical safety regulations and standards.
• Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects efficiently and operate effectively within team settings.

Scope of Work

The role focuses on the entire lifecycle of various types of electrical panels including MDB, SMDB, FDB, MCC, VFD, PLC, ATS, AMF, synchronization, APFC, lighting, HVAC, solar installations, and industrial automation panels all designed and built in alignment with IEC and other international standards.
