Overview
The Construction Director plays a pivotal role in managing extensive construction projects as part of Resorts World Sentosa's expansion plans. This leadership position is accountable for ensuring projects are completed punctually, within the allocated budget, and meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory adherence. The role demands strong leadership, financial oversight, and strategic planning capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans including execution strategies, schedules, and financial budgets.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define the scope, objectives, and deliverables of projects.
- Identify potential risks and formulate mitigation plans.
- Set performance metrics and establish reporting systems to track progress.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams comprising project managers, engineers, site supervisors, and consultants.
- Distribute responsibilities effectively and ensure proper allocation of resources.
- Offer guidance, mentoring, and evaluate team member performance.
- Promote a culture emphasizing teamwork, accountability, and site safety.
- Oversee project expenditures, implementing cost control strategies.
- Engage in negotiations with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to maximize cost efficiencies.
- Serve as the primary liaison for assigned consultants and contractors.
- Regularly update senior management and stakeholders on project status.
- Resolve conflicts and manage project-related challenges proactively.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Implement and enforce stringent safety policies onsite.
- Conduct routine site inspections and risk evaluations.
- Address any legal or regulatory obstacles promptly.
- Maintain oversight of construction quality through ongoing site audits.
- Ensure projects meet specifications and are delivered on schedule without compromising quality.
- Manage final inspections, project handovers, and the closure process.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale construction projects to completion.
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Expertise in financial management and contract administration related to construction projects.
- Advanced problem-solving and risk management skills.
