Job description
Position Overview
Homes England is seeking a Director of Equity Portfolio Management to join the Senior Leadership Team of the National Housing Bank (NHB), a government-backed financial institution created to accelerate housing investment and delivery across England. This role involves leading the management of NHB's current £1 billion commitments spread across funds, partnerships, and joint ventures, while overseeing the deployment of a new £3-4 billion equity capacity aimed at attracting private capital to support housing development and regeneration.
Primary locations considered are Leeds and other Homes England offices nationwide including Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Northstowe, and London.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Equity Portfolio Management team managing NHB’s current commitments of approximately £1 billion.
- Manage and expand the £3-4 billion new equity investments focused on platforms driving private capital into housing delivery and regeneration.
- Collaborate closely with investors, developers, housing associations, and government bodies at various levels to unlock large-scale housing and regeneration opportunities.
- Work hand-in-hand with the Executive Director, Equity, and Director, Equity Transactions, to meet NHB’s strategic objectives.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional in investment, finance, or real assets with extensive expertise in asset management, corporate finance, and investment banking, ideally with experience in a financial institution. Proven ability to manage equity stakes in funds, partnerships, and joint ventures is required, and a strong understanding of both financial and delivery performance metrics is essential. Candidates must be driven by the opportunity to contribute to a newly established financial institution with a clear social purpose.
Organizational Context and Benefits
The NHB operates with a £16 billion financial capacity, aiming to lever over £50 billion of private investment and support the delivery of 500,000 new homes across England. Joining at this foundational stage offers a unique opportunity to influence how a major public financial institution supports housing, regeneration, and economic growth.
Homes England, as an executive non-departmental public body, offers terms, conditions, and a pension scheme aligned with government standards.
