Deli Manager/Chargehand

Role Overview

The Deli Manager or Chargehand is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the Deli Department, ensuring that customers receive high-quality products and services consistently.

Candidate Profile

• Preferably 2 years of previous supervisory or managerial experience.
• At least 1 year of specialized experience working with fresh food products.
• Proven track record of meeting sales goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Essential experience managing gross profit and profit margins.
• Comprehensively trained in HACCP and food safety protocols, with practical experience maintaining these standards.
• Skillful in placing orders specifically for deli departments and effectively managing waste.
• Competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong numerical aptitude.
• Capability to create staff rosters and adhere strictly to budget constraints.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A genuine enthusiasm for the food sector, showing creativity and innovation in fresh food offerings.
• Customer-centric management approach aimed at cultivating a loyal and quality customer base.
• Leadership skills to inspire and motivate staff through support and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure attractive presentation and layout of the deli service area.
• Lead initiatives to boost sales and profit margins within the deli.
• Manage critical KPIs including sales figures, margins, waste control, pricing strategies, and promotional setups.
• Correct implementation of planograms for product displays.
• Take proactive measures to reduce waste and product shrinkage.
• Continuously research and benchmark competitor fresh food offerings to introduce innovative ideas.
• Share expertise in quality food through knowledge dissemination, recipes, and personal suggestions to customers.
• Conduct comprehensive training for all new deli employees.
• Handle customer inquiries efficiently, professionally, and in line with store policies.
• Adopt and support new initiatives and modern working practices.
