About The Trade Desk
The Trade Desk is a worldwide technology company and a major independent platform for digital advertising, with close to 4,000 people across more than 30 offices. Its tools help advertisers connect with the right audiences across the open internet, including streaming TV, podcasts, mobile apps, news, and other channels.
The company aims to make advertising more transparent, effective, and responsible so it can better support journalism, entertainment, and creators. Brands and agencies use the platform to reach customers and grow their businesses in a responsible way.
The company’s large-scale platform creates complex technical work, such as handling huge datasets in real time and building systems that stay dependable globally. The environment values diverse viewpoints, curiosity, collaboration, and learning. The role is part of a multinational team supporting regions across North America, APAC, and EMEA.
Role Overview
Data Support is a global function that transforms The Trade Desk’s proprietary data into custom and syndicated segments and insights that clients can activate confidently. The team helps maintain the accuracy, accessibility, and reliability of the company’s data marketplace and works closely with internal and external partners to solve challenging data issues.
This is a dual-impact role: part client service and part internal enablement. The work includes direct client support, as well as building tools, improving workflows, and helping internal stakeholders. The team values speed of learning, humility, technical quality, and premium service.
What You Will Do
- Create custom audience segments for clients in the data management platform while ensuring correctness, quality, and policy compliance.
- Write and execute SQL to pull, inspect, combine, and verify data from internal systems, then use the results to improve segment design and optimization.
- Check segment builds and output data for accuracy and compliance before handoff; investigate technical problems on your own and escalate with clear documentation when needed.
- Review every request against advertising policy requirements, including sensitive categories, advertiser types, and geographic rules, and escalate unclear cases before moving forward.
- Develop and refine automations, scripts, and workflows that support segment creation and data operations, with attention to quality controls and process efficiency.
- Serve as a primary advisor for stakeholders by guiding segment strategy, audience design, and data best practices, while communicating proactively from intake through completion.
- Manage client and internal requests in Salesforce end-to-end, keeping records and handoff notes detailed enough for anyone to continue the work smoothly.
- Work closely with teammates and stakeholders across North America, APAC, and EMEA, adapting communication for different technical levels and coordinating cross-regional handoffs.
- Contribute to team documentation and knowledge sharing, and act as a subject matter resource for data analysis methods and tools.
- Connect Data Support with other internal teams to resolve data and segment issues, while also contributing to process improvement, tooling, and cross-functional projects as business needs change.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience; 0 to 3 years of experience is acceptable.
- Experience or interest in data, analytics, marketing technology, or a related field is beneficial.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, including pivot tables, charts, and handling large datasets.
- Ability to write advanced SQL queries with joins, temp tables, CTEs, CASE WHEN logic, and nested queries.
- Comfortable working with stakeholders at different technical levels and explaining complex ideas clearly.
- Effective collaborator in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.
- High attention to detail, with strong standards for data ethics and consumer privacy.
- Creative problem-solver who can handle ambiguity, changing requirements, and evolving priorities.
- Open to learning and adapting to new tools and environments, including Databricks, Python, and AI-assisted tools such as Copilot and Claude.
- Good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines while working across functions.
- Self-driven, independent when needed, and also a strong team contributor with a growth mindset.
