Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position in Mojo is focused on reviewing import and export shipments and ensuring that all required customs procedures are followed. The Customs Officer will examine cargo, verify supporting paperwork, calculate duties and taxes, and spot any inconsistencies or signs of non-compliance. The role also requires regular communication with traders, brokers, transport providers, and other stakeholders to explain requirements and help resolve issues promptly. In addition, the officer will keep accurate records, prepare reports, work with customs software and systems, and assist enforcement efforts aimed at reducing smuggling and fraud while keeping legitimate trade moving.
Qualifications
- Practical knowledge of customs rules and clearance processes, with prior exposure to customs brokerage work or training.
- Familiarity with import and export operations, including the documents and steps involved in international trade.
- Good communication and customer service abilities for professional interaction with traders, logistics partners, and internal teams.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills to review documents, detect mismatches, and apply regulations correctly.
- Capacity to work physically on-site in Mojo, handle time-sensitive tasks, and stay effective in a busy setting.
- Comfort using basic computer tools and a willingness to learn customs databases and information systems.
- A diploma or degree in Customs Administration, Logistics, International Trade, Law, Economics, or a closely related area.
- Strong ethical standards, a commitment to public service, and the ability to follow confidentiality rules and workplace codes of conduct.
