About the Role

Embark on a meaningful career as a Custodial Correctional Officer with Queensland Corrective Services in Rockhampton, Queensland. In this role, you will play an essential part in maintaining community safety by securing offenders and fostering their rehabilitation through support and guidance, helping them re-enter society as positive contributors.

Key Duties

  • Oversee and support offender participation in educational, vocational, and employment initiatives.
  • Assist in cultural engagement activities within correctional facilities.
  • Manage prisoner induction processes and accommodation arrangements.
  • Ensure security by monitoring perimeters and providing external escort duties.
  • Prepare detailed reports to aid in case management.
  • Explore various specialized areas for career growth within the service.

  • Competitive fortnightly pay ranging from $2,834.54 to $4,547.33, equivalent to an annual salary between $73,697.91 and $118,635 including superannuation.

  • Relocation support up to $7,000 for eligible candidates moving to regional centres including Capricornia Correctional Centre (Rockhampton), Townsville Correctional Centre, and Lotus Glen Correctional Centre (Mareeba).
  • Additional 31.5% aggregated shift allowance for those working within correctional centres; roles in the Courts Unit operate Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm without shift allowance.

Candidate Profile

No prior experience or formal qualifications are necessary—only a current open or provisional driver's license is required. We welcome applicants from various backgrounds such as trades, hospitality, education, finance, and the Defence Force. The role emphasizes attributes like energy, empathy, and resilience.

Applicants should possess adequate language, literacy, numeracy, and digital competencies as computer and digital system use is integral for daily duties like report writing, record keeping, and communication. These skills will be evaluated during recruitment and training.
