Counter-Sorter

Overview

This role focuses on handling, counting, sorting, and documenting soiled textiles returning from customers. It involves identifying textiles that are damaged or heavily worn and preparing them for transfer to various departments within the facility. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Unpack bags containing soiled textiles and categorize them by type, size, and color.
• Count textiles manually or with electronic devices and input counts into sorting systems.
• Detect any damaged or abused textiles and log these findings accurately in the sorting system.
• Consistently achieve required efficiency and adhere to safety standards.
• Follow supervisory instructions precisely during all tasks.
• Assist in other production areas when required.

Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to distinguish colors and sizes clearly and count with accuracy.
• Capable of understanding and following detailed instructions effectively.
• Meet physical demands including standing, walking, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, grasping, stooping, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds for the entirety of the shift.

Work Environment

The position operates within a standard industrial laundry environment characterized by varying temperatures, odors, humidity, lint, and dust. The textiles processed originate from a range of customers such as hotels, restaurants, medical facilities, and retail shops.
