Position: Control Systems Technician (Offshore - Ghana)
Role Responsibilities
- Manage installation, upkeep, and fault diagnosis of automated control systems aboard the FPSO KNK.
- Work across systems involving Telecoms, PLCs, HMIs, and sensors, executing system calibration, interpreting schematics, preventive maintenance, and problem-solving to reduce downtime.
- Expertly read and interpret P&IDs, datasheets, general arrangement drawings, and procedural documentation.
- Conduct installations, modifications, and maintenance on electrical/electronic systems including wiring, sensor arrays, and motor controls.
- Contribute to implementing Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Security Policies aligned with divisional strategy objectives.
- Engage in ICS security incident investigations, root cause analyses, continuous improvement, and productivity initiatives.
- Participate in lifecycle management reviews and periodic updates of ICS inventories.
- Diagnose and repair control system faults using relevant software tools for monitoring and fault detection.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues across Ethernet, Fiber, Modbus protocols, and TCP/IP.
- Calibrate and verify instruments/control devices measuring parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow.
- Operate and assess control system interfaces for Yokogawa DCS, Allen Bradley, and Siemens modules, including configuration tasks.
- Supervise control systems via technologies like PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA.
- Document and analyze data, interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints thoroughly.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to enhance system reliability and preempt failures.
- Ensure safe operation in compliance with KNK protocols and relevant standards.
- Serve as the technical liaison, providing operator support and training on system usage and maintenance.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in industrial control systems and communication technologies.
- Prior experience working on Tanker/FPSO platforms is mandatory.
- Strong technical expertise in industrial automation, networking, and system integration within operational technology.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing operational issues using appropriate tools.
- Capability to configure Allen Bradley PLCs and associated hardware is advantageous.
- Familiarity supporting telecom equipment including RADIO (UHF/VHF, VHF Marine), ACS, PAGA, Data LAN & WAN, meteorological devices, CCTV, and telephony.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience providing start-up support transitioning systems to operation phase.
