Job description
Position Overview
The Contract Manager for Facilities Management is tasked with managing contracts throughout their entire life cycle. This includes the initial planning, drafting, negotiation, execution, ongoing administration, compliance tracking, renewals, and either closeout or termination. The role is vital in safeguarding the organization's commercial, legal, and operational interests while aligning with business goals and regulatory requirements.
Key Duties
- Develop and prepare contracts ensuring compliance and business needs are met.
- Lead contract negotiations addressing all relevant commercial and legal terms.
- Manage contract documentation maintaining accuracy and audit readiness.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and applicable laws throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Identify and handle contractual risks and claims proactively.
- Monitor contract performance to ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled.
- Coordinate effectively with stakeholders across legal, procurement, finance, operations, and projects.
- Oversee financial and commercial aspects related to contracts.
- Manage contract modifications, change orders, and variations in scope or terms.
- Prepare reports, perform analyses, and recommend improvements in contract management processes.
Educational Background and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in Law, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management or related fields.
- Master’s degree, MBA, or postgraduate studies focusing on contracts, commercial management, or law is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as MRICS, MCIPS, PMP, CPCM, CCM, or equivalents are advantageous.
- Additional training in contract law, claim handling, negotiation, or dispute resolution is beneficial.
Experience
- A minimum of 10 years’ progressively responsible experience in contract administration, management, or commercial management.
- Proven track record in handling contracts across their full lifecycle including drafting, negotiating, administering, controlling changes, managing claims, and final closure.
