About the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is responsible for protecting and promoting Singapore’s interests and the interests of Singaporeans through diplomacy. With a worldwide network of 50 overseas missions, MFA depends on its people across every function and welcomes those who are interested in public service and a meaningful career.

Role overview

As a Consular Response Centre (CRC) Executive, you will support Singaporeans and their family members who contact MFA for help, ensure cases are recorded and followed up properly, and help keep the CRC operating smoothly. The role also involves helping the CRC shift into a Crisis Management Centre (CMC) during emergencies and staying on top of important global developments that may affect Singaporeans abroad.

Key responsibilities

  • Handle incoming consular phone calls and emails from Singaporeans and their families seeking assistance, and keep the relevant overseas missions and headquarters teams updated.
  • Make sure public queries are answered promptly, accurately logged, and tracked for follow-up.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the MFA CRC and assist in its conversion into a Crisis Management Centre during crisis situations.
  • Track breaking international news, including disasters and emergencies, and report relevant developments to MFA’s Consular Directorate while coordinating outreach to affected Singaporeans overseas.

Requirements

  • Singapore citizenship is required, along with strong communication, planning, and administrative abilities.
  • Applicants should be committed to public service.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts is necessary, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • You should be able to work on your own and remain composed, patient, and courteous when dealing with distressed members of the public.
  • Prior experience of 2 to 5 years in a similar role, especially in handling members of the public, is preferred.

Work environment

This position operates in a demanding, fast-moving, and highly changeable setting where you will need to juggle several priorities and stakeholders at once.
