Role Overview
The Commercial Director is tasked with directing the commercial strategy, contract governance, and maximizing the company's profitability. This leadership position is accountable for all commercial functions, including negotiating contracts, managing costs and revenues, strategizing pricing, mitigating risks, and fostering stakeholder partnerships to ensure the organization's enduring commercial success and value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute commercial strategies aligned with corporate goals and sustainable growth aspirations.
- Lead negotiations and manage a diverse portfolio of contracts such as service agreements, partnerships, leases, supplies, and development contracts.
- Supervise pricing models, cost frameworks, and revenue forecasts to maintain profitability and market competitiveness.
- Track commercial performance using financial metrics, proposing enhancements to optimize returns.
- Identify and address commercial risks, ensuring strict adherence to legal, regulatory, and internal policies.
- Support tender and bidding processes with comprehensive commercial insights, including pricing and risk allocation.
- Handle claims, change orders, and dispute resolutions in coordination with legal, operational, and financial departments.
- Build and mentor a capable commercial team to uphold operational excellence and continuous professional growth.
- Maintain robust relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders to promote collaboration and favorable results.
- Ensure rigorous commercial governance and transparent reporting consistent with corporate standards.
- Contribute to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives by participating in safety awareness and incident management aligned with company and Integrated Management System (IMS) policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least 18-20 years of professional experience with a minimum of 3 to 5 years in a director role within a mega-contracting company managing large-scale projects.
- Bachelor's degree required; a degree in Law is preferred.
- Professional credentials such as Chartered membership with CIOB, RICS, or related bodies are highly valued.
