About Pennington Biomedical Research Center
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, affiliated with Louisiana State University and situated on a 222-acre campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a leading institution in medical research focusing on obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and dementia. The center integrates basic science, clinical research, and population health, supported by NIH Research Centers, with a network of 44 laboratories and 13 specialized core facilities.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Clinical Research Associate 1 to join the Pediatric Obesity and Health Behavior Laboratory. The role involves conducting clinical trial visits with responsibilities such as study preparation, data collection, and data entry. The associate will obtain informed consent, perform assessments related to diet and physical activity, administer questionnaires, and ensure data quality and consistency across clinical sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and conduct clinical trial study visits, ensuring readiness of materials and accurate data collection and entry.
- Perform clinical research activities including participant consent, anthropometric measurements, dietary and physical activity assessments, and questionnaire administration following study protocols.
- Assist in coordinating data collection and intervention delivery to maintain data integrity and adherence to study goals.
- Communicate effectively with participants for scheduling, reminders, screenings, interventions, and follow-ups.
- Accurately enter clinical trial data into the REDCap database in a timely manner.
- Conduct off-campus visits as required while upholding high standards of participant care and data collection.
Additional Information
This position requires flexibility in scheduling and may include work outside standard hours. Some travel within and outside Baton Rouge will be necessary. Employment is contingent on a satisfactory background check.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, life sciences, nursing, kinesiology, or related discipline.
- Experience with or knowledge of human subject assessments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with participants and manage visit scheduling and follow-ups.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a keen eye for detail to ensure precise data collection and entry.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and establish rapport with study participants.
- Willingness to travel for off-site visits and adapt to diverse study protocols.
- Effective problem-solving skills to manage challenges during study procedures and data collection.
