About the Role
The Singapore National Eye Centre in Singapore is seeking a Clinical Coder to work on-site in the hospital and healthcare sector. This role involves upholding superior standards in Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) coding.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully review day surgery records to extract complete and precise diagnoses and procedures.
- Assign relevant ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes accurately to patient data.
- Enter data efficiently into the clinical coding system while ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify unclear or incomplete clinical documentation.
- Take part in internal audits and reviews to maintain high coding standards.
- Optimize coding output and quality to maintain consistency.
- Monitor uncoded discharges in the OAS system to ensure prompt coding that meets subvention deadlines.
- Coordinate with other teams to address issues related to coding processes.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities for coding staff.
- Stay current with coding regulations and eye care-specific medical terminology.
- Identify and support initiatives to improve operational workflows and service quality.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Allied Health Science or Medical Science is the minimum academic requirement.
- Possession of an ICD-10-AM coding certification will be considered an advantage.
- Background or qualification in optometry, or prior experience in eye care, is beneficial.
- At least one year of experience in healthcare is preferred.
