Class 1 Driver

About the Opportunity

This role is a full-time, permanent position as a Class 1 Relief Driver based in Aberdeen, requiring flexibility to work both day and night shifts, including weekends. The main focus is on multi-drop store deliveries using a refrigerated tail-lift trailer, especially transporting milk cages and returning empties across Aberdeen and the surrounding areas. You will also be expected to cover for staff on holiday or sick leave, bringing variety to your schedule. The role prioritizes safety, reliability, and excellent customer service within a high-performing logistics team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Execute multi-stop local deliveries and collections, delivering refrigerated goods with a tail-lift trailer.
• Operate tail-lift equipment, ensuring manual handling of cages where necessary.
• Secure and load items safely, using the appropriate safety and securing equipment to minimize damage and movement while in transit.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections using a company mobile device to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
• Communicate regularly with the transport coordination team to keep them updated on progress and delivery status, ensuring high standards of customer satisfaction.
• Participate in continuous professional development, including regular training sessions to keep current with industry best practices and health and safety requirements.
• Adapt to a flexible work schedule, covering both day and night shifts as needed (five shifts over seven days), with overtime opportunities available.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Possession of a valid UK Class 1 CE driving license.
• Holding a current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Demonstrated commitment to delivering outstanding service to customers.
• Ability to work effectively to deadlines and within a team environment.
• Physically fit, reliable, self-motivated, and adaptable approach to work.
• Excellent communication skills with a polite and confident demeanor.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay Rate: £14.29 per hour on weekdays, £17.04 per hour on weekends (overtime available).
• Shift Pattern: Any 5 out of 7 days, starting at 5:00 AM.
