About the Role

As a Category Associate focusing on the DACH region, you'll be instrumental in expanding Whatnot's reach by finding and recruiting sellers. You'll become a specialist for your category and act as the liaison between the company and its seller and buyer communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in your category, including understanding seller/buyer behavior, community dynamics, influencers, and product details.
• Represent Whatnot as the public face for your category’s community.
• Identify and recruit sellers to join and expand their businesses, utilizing social media, outreach channels, and live events.
• Facilitate onboarding of sellers, guiding them on how to use the platform effectively.
• Build and nurture strong relationships with sellers and strategic partners to support their growth and communicate their needs.
• Collaborate with partners to plan growth strategies and relay product feedback.
• Lead marketing efforts including influencer campaigns to elevate brand visibility and attract buyers.
• Use fundamental data analytics skills such as SQL to extract insights and optimize processes.
• Analyze key metrics to monitor category performance and identify areas for continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience in high-output, client-facing roles such as Strategy Consulting, Private Equity, or partnerships within fast-paced tech environments.
• Adaptable and resourceful in ambiguous situations with limited supervision.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage projects and execute strategies independently for both supply and demand sides.
• Excellent business understanding with analytical capabilities; able to interpret and act on data insights.
• Fluent in both German and English (written and spoken) with deep knowledge of the German market.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience at startups with high growth, marketplaces, or platforms centered around creators.
• Competency in SQL for data queries and analysis.
• Passion or expertise in creator communities and categories like vintage fashion or collectibles found on Whatnot.
• Practical experience buying and selling on online marketplaces.

• Competitive salary between €81,000 and €90,000 annually.
