About the Role

Crossing Hurdles, partnering with a US AI research lab, seeks senior corporate finance experts for a remote freelance position evaluating AI systems. This role focuses on assessing AI models designed to mimic expert financial decision-making, rather than traditional finance functions.

Responsibilities

• Assess AI-generated outputs concerning capital allocation, investment decision-making, and financial planning strategies.
• Judge responses for correctness, depth, and practical relevance.
• Compose and optimize prompts to challenge AI on intricate financial scenarios.
• Provide expert insights to enhance AI reasoning about capital structures, ROI calculations, and prioritizing resources.
• Identify and report mistakes, inconsistencies, or flawed logic from a practitioner’s viewpoint.

Domain Expertise

• Strategies for capital allocation and portfolio prioritization.
• Investment evaluations and financial return modeling.
• Planning and budgeting of corporate resources.
• Assessment of financial risk related to capital choices.
• Variance analysis and monitoring performance relative to capital allocation.

Candidate Profile

• A minimum of 5 years experience in corporate finance, financial planning & analysis, strategic finance, or capital budgeting roles.
• Backgrounds such as Capital Allocation Specialist, FP&A Manager, Strategic Finance Lead, or Senior FP&A Analyst are preferred.
• Advanced credentials like a CFA certification or an MBA focused on Finance are highly desirable.
• Proficiency in financial modeling methodologies including NPV, IRR, and scenario analysis.
• Capability to assess the quality of AI reasoning beyond just superficial accuracy.
• Strong skills in written communication and analytical problem solving.

Work Environment and Conditions

This opportunity allows full remote work with asynchronous scheduling. Candidates manage their own hours within weekly commitments. Tasks are performed independently, with potential for long-term retainer contracts based on performance. Onboarding is rapid, typically completed within a day following resume review.

Compensation and Commitment

• Hourly pay ranges from 100 to 125 USD.
• Payments are disbursed biweekly through Deel.
• Weekly time commitment ranges between 15 and 20+ hours, with a minimum of 10 hours per week.
• Long-term engagement with possible expanded retainer opportunities for top performers.
