Overview
The Department of Economic Security (DES) in Arizona is seeking a dedicated Business Analyst to join their Division of Business Services in Phoenix. The role supports Agile projects by acting as the key liaison between technology teams and business units, aiming to improve processes that benefit over 3 million Arizonans. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement within Arizona and focuses on community impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop acceptance testing strategies, create detailed test cases and scripts, conduct comprehensive testing across multiple platforms including mainframe and web, analyze results, and secure user approval.
- Design project plans with clear timelines, break down processes into manageable tasks, allocate responsibilities to team members, provide continual support and feedback, and prepare status reports for management.
- Serve as the communication bridge between technical developers and business users, delivering presentations on new features, and creating effective training materials to promote user engagement.
- Offer daily functional support to end users of business systems utilized across state departments and facilitate operations for statewide enterprise systems.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Expertise in analyzing systems, modeling business processes, gathering requirements, and quality assurance practices.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycles and project management methodologies with familiarity in Agile frameworks and tools such as Azure DevOps.
- Proficient knowledge of Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) standards and Microsoft Office along with Google Workspace applications.
- Ability to synthesize information from varied stakeholders and translate user needs into comprehensive business, functional, and testing documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience, including 1-2 years in IT-related analysis roles.
- Bachelor’s degree focusing on Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.
- Certifications such as PMI, CBAP, ITIL, Lean, Six-Sigma, or Scrum Master are advantageous.

- Applicants must pass background and reference checks and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card as per Arizona Revised Statute.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $76,319 to $78,308.88 annually, Grade 24.
