Position Summary

We are seeking a full-time Benefits/HR Administrator to join our team working the first shift from approximately 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, onsite at Tampa, FL. This role will serve as the primary expert on employee benefits programs such as health insurance and retirement plans. The position also supports various HR administrative functions, acting as a central point of contact for employees, candidates, vendors, and internal HR communications. The incumbent will focus on streamlining day-to-day HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, benefits management, and policy inquiries to enhance overall employee experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage HR Service Desk tickets, emails, and front desk inquiries, ensuring timely routing or resolution of employee and external requests via phone, email, and mail.
  • Coordinate the annual open enrollment by scheduling timelines, updating relevant systems, and preparing communications for employees.
  • Work closely with brokers, insurance providers, and third-party administrators to monitor plan performance, manage claims, and address billing issues.
  • Assist with recruitment logistics including scheduling candidate interviews and managing pre-employment screenings.
  • Maintain and update digital employee records ensuring accuracy, compliance, and data integrity.
  • Oversee Paylocity HRIS system administration, troubleshooting issues, launching workflows, and generating reports while serving as the primary support contact.
  • Support employee relations by ensuring benefit enrollments, handling sensitive employee situations discreetly, and managing offboarding processes including asset returns.
  • Perform additional HR administrative duties such as medical callouts, employment verifications, temporary labor management, payroll assistance, and HR projects.
  • Coordinate access badges including day passes and monthly renewals for port access, liaising with the Port of Tampa as needed.
  • Manage office supplies and PPE inventory ensuring all materials and forms are stocked and office areas remain orderly.
  • Assist in organizing company events like holiday and birthday celebrations and prepare conference rooms for meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in HR, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years or more of experience in benefits administration, with proven experience managing open enrollment processes.
  • Familiarity with Paylocity HRIS is highly advantageous.
  • Bilingual ability is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in human resources, office coordination, or administrative roles is essential.
  • Demonstrated confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, multitasking capabilities, and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to manage conflict and support resolutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with applicant tracking systems or other HRIS platforms.
  • Internships or prior corporate exposure in benefits or HR-related roles.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements

The role is situated in a professional office setting, with typical office equipment usage including computers and telephones. The job environment includes moderate noise from office machines and nearby industrial plant activity, occasional walking through plant areas with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels. The position requires prolonged sitting and computer usage and the ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds.
