Position Overview
Join the team as a Bell Person at the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, an Autograph Collection resort by Marriott nestled in the Canadian Rockies. This role offers an exciting blend of professional guest service within a breathtaking mountain setting and comes with subsidized staff housing. The position is based onsite in Kananaskis, Alberta, with a pay rate of $18.00 per hour plus tips.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure exceptional guest arrival and departure experiences by providing attentive and professional service.
- Efficiently handle guest requests and concerns with prompt follow-up.
- Build personal connections with guests to understand their expectations and deliver memorable hospitality.
- Manage valet parking duties including safe retrieval and parking of guest vehicles.
- Assist with delivering items to guest rooms and operating guest shuttles to nearby attractions.
- Possess detailed knowledge of the Kananaskis Valley area to provide recommendations and support booking activities, enhancing guest experiences.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of public spaces such as lobby and front entrance areas.
- Work collaboratively with various hotel departments including Housekeeping, Engineering, Conference Services, and Accounting.
- Adhere to hotel safety and emergency procedures at all times.
Candidate Requirements
- Energetic and enthusiastic individuals who perform well under pressure and can multitask effectively.
- Ability to lift and carry guest luggage safely, typically between 25 to 50 lbs.
- Prior experience in customer service is a must.
- Hospitality or Tourism diploma is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills along with professional demeanor.
- High attention to detail and commitment to exceeding guest expectations consistently.
- Computer literacy, especially proficient with Windows and internet use.
- A focus on health and safety practices to maintain a secure work environment.
- Ability to work variable shifts and enjoy teamwork in a dynamic environment.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license required, Class 4 preferred for shuttle operations. Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing and walking during shifts in a high-paced luxury environment.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of luggage and equipment (up to 50 lbs), including maneuvering loaded luggage carts through various spaces.
- Repetitive movements such as bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching when handling luggage and maintaining storage areas.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, requiring adaptability to heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- Strict adherence to proper lifting techniques and occupational health and safety standards.
