Role Overview

As a Barista, your daily goal is to provide guests with an exceptional café experience by preparing superb coffee and fostering meaningful connections. Beyond just making coffee, you will contribute to a welcoming environment that energizes and delights visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service focused on guest engagement, hospitality, and top-notch coffee preparation.
• Consistently produce high-quality coffee and espresso beverages quickly while maintaining café standards.
• Serve food and drinks to tables accurately and efficiently when required.
• Support daily café operations by clearing tables, restocking merchandise and supplies, and assisting customers.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness, including washing dishes, organizing tools, and managing waste and recycling.
• Restock fridges, syrups, merchandise, condiment bars, and grab-and-go fridges as needed.
• Stay attentive to both café and guest needs, proactively responding to questions and requests.
• Engage in continuous training and product tastings to enhance barista skills and knowledge.
• Keep indoor and patio workspaces clean and organized; communicate supply shortages promptly.
• Adhere strictly to Kicking Horse Coffee’s procedures related to food handling, cash management, beverage preparation, and safety.

Qualifications

Essential:

• Previous experience in food and beverage sectors such as cafés or restaurants.
• A genuine passion for coffee and eagerness to learn all aspects of coffee culture.
• A people-oriented mindset with strong communication and customer service abilities suitable for fast-paced, team-driven environments.
• Legal authorization to work within Canada.

Desirable:

• Certification in Food Safe Level 1 or 2.
• Knowledge in coffee education including latte art, brewing methods, espresso calibration, and flavor profiles.
• Experience with point-of-sale systems and cash handling.

Work Schedule and Compensation

This position is located onsite in Invermere, BC. The café operates seven days weekly during summer and five days otherwise, requiring availability on weekends and statutory holidays. Permanent full-time roles are available. Hourly wage ranges between 19 and 23.64 CAD, complemented by tip eligibility.
