Job Purpose

This role is for leading operations at a small solar O&M site of 0-50 MW. The position is accountable for day-to-day site performance, budget control, safety, regulatory compliance, inventory discipline, and achievement of operational targets. The aim is to consistently exceed plant performance goals while promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and ongoing improvement.

Key Responsibilities

The role covers financial control, operational excellence, people management, safety, business planning, technology adoption, and asset governance at the site level.

Financial Management

  • Monitor monthly budgets against actual spend and explain any variances with clear analysis.
  • Manage OPEX, CAPEX, and procurement budgets in line with site financial targets.
  • Ensure payments are processed on time and that revenue and cost outcomes stay on track.
  • Use SAP for preventive and breakdown maintenance planning, notifications, and issue closure.
  • Study daily outage and interruption records, then initiate RCA and CAPA actions to reduce repeat failures and improve reliability.

Operations and Compliance

  • Deliver site-level solar performance goals such as PR, CUF, plant availability, and grid availability.
  • Maintain zero repeat audit observations and close audit findings quickly in line with IMS and MAAS requirements.
  • Keep inventory within approved limits and manage critical spares using VED, FSN, and ABC methods.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance, testing, calibration, and overall upkeep of solar assets.
  • Follow ESG, Legatrix, 5S, Business Excellence, IMS, and all applicable government rules and standards.

People Development and Team Management

  • Fill vacant positions within 45 days and work to keep attrition low.
  • Complete training requirements and build at least 20% of the team for higher responsibilities, with emphasis on solar O&M skills.
  • Maintain productive relationships with local stakeholders and ensure smooth coordination for site activities.

Safety and Environmental Health

  • Drive a safety-first culture with the goal of zero accidents and zero lost time injuries.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings, enforce pre-checks, and meet safety audit expectations.
  • Act on safety concerns promptly and implement corrective measures to reduce operational risk.

Business Processes and Strategic Planning

  • Design and execute site-specific processes and plans that improve efficiency and performance.
  • Manage site planning, inventory, and procurement to support operations and reduce downtime.
  • Promote technology use and innovation initiatives that strengthen site performance and ESG outcomes.

Technology and Innovation

  • Use platforms such as BAX and Google IC for monitoring, reporting, and efficiency improvement.
  • Maintain SCADA connectivity and oversee solar operations to maximise site availability and performance.

Operational Reporting and Site Events

  • Track key KPIs and highlight both achievements and improvement areas in reports.
  • Plan and coordinate VIP visits and special events at the site to ensure smooth execution.

Material and Asset Management

  • Oversee inventory and asset upkeep so work is completed within budget and timelines.
  • Schedule calibration and testing of solar equipment as required.
  • Manage scrap disposal while following storage, preservation, and disposal rules.

Key Stakeholders

Internal stakeholders include the CEO, O&M Head, Central Cluster Head, Cluster Head, HO and site O&M teams, and support functions such as Project, Engineering, Safety, BD, Projects, MAAS, HSE, ESG, techno-commercial, HR, Admin, Finance, BEx, Land, Legal, and Insurance.

External stakeholders include clients, investors, other IPPs, regulatory agencies, local communities, vendors, suppliers, contractors, OEMs, grid authorities such as NRLDC and SLDC, and government officials.

Qualifications and Experience
