Role Overview

The Associate AI Builder will develop intelligent agentic systems that enhance patient experiences by managing functionalities such as scheduling, referrals, medication refills, billing, and payment estimations. The role involves overseeing the entire delivery process and outcomes for selected healthcare customers, acting with a blend of product management curiosity, project management discipline, and engineering agentic proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for delivering solutions and results for assigned customers, representing Artera effectively in client interactions.
• Identify customer challenges and formulate strategic roadmaps for their resolution.
• Coordinate stakeholders, manage data pipelines, and facilitate smooth onboarding of customers onto built solutions.
• Architect and implement AI-driven solutions tailored to customers' operational realities using internal tools.
• Monitor, enhance, and maintain solution reliability, and participate in on-call duties if required.
• Operate predominantly with AI-native tools, especially command line interfaces, expanding role responsibilities beyond typical engineering tasks.
• Build and keep subject-matter knowledge in relevant healthcare segments and integration technologies.
• Mentor and assist newer team builders, elevating technical and customer engagement standards.
• Contribute to squad-level project planning and prioritization alongside leadership.

Candidate Requirements

• 0 to 2 years of relevant professional experience in software engineering, data science, machine learning, product management, product design, or technical project management, including recent graduates.
• Proven proficiency in AI-native development environments capable of producing output equating multiple traditional engineers, including rapid technology adoption.
• Experience engaging directly with customers, managing relationships, and translating inputs into technical execution.
• Curious and disciplined approach combining aspects of product and project management, with clear communication and work completion skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities for diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare technology or digital health products.
• Hands-on work developing operational agentic AI systems, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, or Multi-Context Processing (MCP) tool integrations.
• Awareness of regulatory compliance requirements like HIPAA, HITRUST, and FedRAMP.
• Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, athena, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, or call center/Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) integration.
• Skills in evaluating and benchmarking large language model (LLM) driven solutions.

Additional Information

The role supports a federal product with essential secure operations duties including compliance with government background checks, data protection, incident response, and operational continuity obligations. Ongoing training and adherence to security standards are required.

Work Location: The position is onsite at one of three company locations: Santa Barbara, CA (HQ), Seattle, WA, or Kansas City, KS/MO. Candidates should live in or be willing to relocate to one of these cities to benefit from collaborative, in-person team dynamics.
