About the Role

Join Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities as an Assistant Project Manager to play a pivotal role in advancing our national retrofit program. In this position, you will foster collaboration, maintain momentum, and influence results to deliver warmer, safer, and more sustainable homes across multiple regions including Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

Working onsite within a focused team, you will help coordinate projects from initial planning stages through to final handover, promoting streamlined and consistent processes. Your efforts will contribute significantly to the transformational change within our Retrofit Directorate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive progress and build alignment across multidisciplinary teams through effective leadership and communication.
  • Support various retrofit projects to ensure timely and successful delivery.
  • Enhance coordination between internal teams and external partners involved in the retrofit program.
  • Identify and implement improved ways of working to support program goals.
  • Maintain accountability and constructively address potential issues that may impact project outcomes.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • One to two years’ experience managing multiple construction tasks or projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively within an Agile, team-based environment.
  • Experience in contract management and negotiation, with knowledge of NZS3915 standards considered a plus.
  • Basic understanding of NZS3604 Building Standards, with the capability to contribute solutions to construction challenges aligned with Kāinga Ora’s objectives.
  • Project Management certification such as PMP or Prince2 is desirable or in progress.
