Job Purpose
The role of Package Incharge for Water Treatment encompasses managing the operations and upkeep of water treatment systems including Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP), Pure Water Units (PUW), and Sewage Treatment Plants (STP). The goal is to ensure the delivery of safe potable water, maintain environmental compliance, optimize resource usage, and promote continuous enhancements in treatment efficiency and sustainability. This position requires leadership of the treatment teams alongside guaranteeing strict regulatory adherence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee daily Pure Water system operations to produce safe, high-quality drinking and industrial water by managing filtration and disinfection methodologies.
- Supervise Effluent and Sewage Treatment Plants ensuring compliance with environmental norms, minimizing ecological impacts, and upholding quality standards.
- Efficiently manage manpower, chemical usage, and equipment for PUW, ETP, and STP, maintaining budgets that promote cost-effective and sustainable operation.
- Conduct frequent water quality testing to confirm adherence to regulatory standards in all water treatment operations, promptly addressing deviations to prevent risks.
- Implement water conservation strategies and appropriate technologies across all treatment plants to lower water consumption and enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain rigorous safety practices by enforcing PPE use, executing safety audits, and performing risk assessments to comply with all safety regulations.
- Utilize data analytics to reveal operational inefficiencies and drive process improvements, including adoption of novel technologies and techniques to boost performance and reduce expenses.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the operations and maintenance teams, fostering a culture centered on safety, respect, and continuous professional growth.
Key Stakeholders
- Internal: Lead - Controls & Instrumentation, Chemist Engineer, Mechanical Lead, Package Incharge - Operations & Maintenance for CAS & PCW, and Area Chemical Incharge.
- External: Vendors supplying water treatment systems, waste management firms, environmental consultants, and laboratory services.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or closely related fields is mandatory.
- Additional certifications in water/wastewater treatment or environmental management are advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of water chemistry, treatment technologies, and relevant environmental legislation is essential.
- Must possess 8 to 10 years’ experience managing industrial water and wastewater treatment operations, with proven skills in regulatory compliance, water conservation efforts, and team leadership.
