Assistant General Manager - Accounts Payable

Role Overview

We are recruiting a senior leader to head Procure-to-Pay operations within a Shared Services / Global Capability Centre environment. This key position involves orchestrating the transformation of processes, expanding automation capabilities, and efficiently managing high-volume financial transactions on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end management of global accounts payable operations including invoice processing, vendor master data maintenance, payments, and query resolution.
• Ensure delivery of key performance indicators and service level agreements focusing on accuracy, aging, and processing volumes.
• Drive digital improvements such as optical character recognition (OCR), enterprise resource planning (ERP) upgrades, workflow optimization, and robotic process automation (RPA).
• Collaborate with Treasury teams to strategize cash flow management, discount optimizations, and payment scheduling.
• Control open advances, goods receipt notes, and payables while upholding internal audit standards and global compliance mandates.
• Serve as the escalation contact for significant vendor issues and complex reconciliations.
• Oversee financial governance including sub-ledger close procedures, accruals, and reconciliations ensuring clean accounting cut-offs.
• Coordinate the team’s efforts with onshore finance directors and global procurement departments.
• Recruit, mentor, and nurture a capable team of accounts payable managers, leads, and specialists.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Certified Chartered Accountant (CA) with all levels passed on first attempt.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in Procure-to-Pay and accounts payable functions within Shared Services or Global Capability Centres.
• Sector experience strictly limited to Construction, Manufacturing, Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC), or Automotive industries; backgrounds in IT, services, advisory, or consulting are excluded.

Technical and Professional Skills

• Expertise in ERP systems, particularly SAP and Xpedeon.
• Practical experience in automation implementations involving OCR, RPA, and advanced workflow solutions.
• Strong foundation in continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, or Agile.
• Excellent command of English for effective communication across global stakeholders.
