Job Overview
The Maintenance II role involves ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of the district's buildings and grounds. Working hours are from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
Reporting
This role reports directly to the Supervisor of Facilities or their designated representative.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Compliance with Employment Eligibility, Criminal Background Checks, Pre-Employment Drug Screening, and Physical/TB examinations is mandatory.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal abilities including tact, patience, and courteousness.
- Capacity to uphold strict confidentiality.
- Good judgment and courtesy when interacting with staff, students, parents, and the public.
- Experience in varied maintenance and custodial tasks is necessary.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable ten-year driving record, which must be maintained throughout employment.
- Pesticides Certification Category 23 is preferred or a willingness to obtain it within six months of hiring and maintain it during employment.
Primary Duties
- Replace lighting fixtures such as bulbs.
- Distribute maintenance, custodial, and educational supplies to staff district-wide.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on all building components.
- Arrange and dismantle furniture setups for events and meetings as required.
- Operate various vehicles, both automatic and manual transmission types.
- Use equipment to maintain buildings and grounds, including grass trimming, mowing, field line painting, and snow removal.
- Ability to work safely at heights of 50 feet or more is required.
- Follow instructions carefully for chemical mixing and handling.
- Maintain confidentiality throughout all job functions.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas; perform landscaping tasks like weeding, trimming, and mowing.
- Layout and line sports fields accurately.
- Paint district facilities according to schedule.
- Collect garbage and recycling using district trucks.
- Complete assigned work orders and document all completed tasks thoroughly.
- Maintain punctual and consistent attendance.
Secondary Duties
- Provide pick-up and delivery services as needed.
- Assist maintenance staff in completing various projects and tasks.
- Participate in meetings and assigned training sessions.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow instructions effectively.
- Physical endurance to meet daily job responsibilities.
- Capability to lift, carry, push and pull weights up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds to shoulder height or above.
- Flexibility to stoop and bend for equipment operation.
- Capability to stand and/or walk for eight hours daily.
Activity Frequency
Lifting and transportation weights vary from rarely lifting over 50 lbs (considered occasional) to constantly moving under 10 lbs. Mobility demands include occasional movement around work areas and transporting supplies related to job duties.
Terms of Employment
Full-time position working 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week. Compensation and benefits are aligned with the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement. This is a non-exempt, hourly position.
