Role Overview and Objectives
The Accountant position entails monitoring, preparing, and maintaining financial data and reports that adhere to best practices. This role supports senior accountants and shared services in accounting operations, including transaction monitoring, query resolution, and financial analysis assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Record-to-Report processes.
- Assist in generating general ledger entries and perform necessary adjustments.
- Support monthly procedures including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Help prepare profit and loss and balance sheet financial analyses and reports.
- Perform reviews and analyses to identify discrepancies and variances in financial data.
- Contribute to the enhancement or development of accounting systems, procedures, and programs; initiate measures reducing write-offs and boosting efficiency.
- Assist with audit preparations and year-end activities.
- Ensure accounting records and financial reports comply with Datacom standards.
- Complete all accounting tasks within deadlines and resolve issues proactively.
- Collaborate with teams to embed reporting standards into finance workflows.
- Perform other accounting duties and support broader team tasks as assigned.
- Support design and execution of effective financial controls.
- Exercise due care to maintain health and safety standards, reporting any hazards or unsafe practices as per company policy.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Extensive understanding of general accounting systems, practices, and processes.
- Strong technical accounting skills.
- Familiarity with Oracle or similar ERP systems.
- Between three to five years of experience in general accounting or auditing.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders in challenging scenarios.
- Background participating in implementing new accounting systems or evolving existing ones.
- Experience working within Datacom or a comparably sized organization.
- Certification in Accountancy is mandatory.
- Experience with inventory management and IT rebates is required.
