About the Role
The Zonal Credit Manager will be responsible for overseeing and implementing risk and credit operations within the zone in line with established frameworks across various business lines of the organization. This role requires close collaboration with multiple teams such as Sales, Operations, and Technical departments to ensure seamless coordination and effective decision-making regarding credit proposals and exception cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and supervise the execution of zone-specific credit risk operations adhering to prescribed guidelines.
- Engage with relevant stakeholders proactively to facilitate efficient cross-team collaboration and informed decisions on credit proposals, escalations, and exceptions.
- Review and assess current risk management practices periodically to recommend improvements aligning with industry trends and long-term strategies.
- Provide guidance and technical insights to team members for handling particular cases and exceptions, considering regional nuances and property specifics.
- Evaluate and grant approvals as per the defined authority matrix and support team members on approvals when required.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, reinforcing the Risk team's role as an enabler for business growth without compromising risk controls.
- Promote coordinated procedures with Sales, Operations, and Technical teams, fostering open communication and alignment with business objectives and risk management standards.
- Act as a point of escalation for complex business concerns, coordinating with relevant teams and escalating to senior leadership if needed.
- Ensure timely collection of post-disbursement documents within assigned timeframes.
- Monitor adherence to risk management policies and regulatory requirements through regular and situational reviews of management information systems, reports, and escalation documentation.
- Ensure strict adherence to the 'Maker-Checker' processes involving Sales and Operations teams, including approval exceptions, collateral valuation, document collection, and cheque bounce management.
- Maintain minimal critical audit observations and ensure timely resolution of any findings within stipulated timelines.
- Identify and analyze early warning signs of potential credit issues.
- Assess delinquency patterns at the zonal level, providing insights on causative factors such as local economic conditions and industry performance.
- Coordinate closely with Collections and Operations teams to foster efficient monitoring and recovery actions for delinquent accounts.
- Intervene in specific escalated cases to support recovery processes and avoid Non-Performing Assets, escalating to senior risk heads when necessary.
- Track early defaulters and skip cases, assisting collections teams in resolving these effectively.
- Participate actively in zonal business planning and decision-making, promoting a partnership approach between Risk and Sales for sustainable growth.
- Guide and mentor team members to enhance risk assessment capabilities, underwriting proficiency, and stakeholder engagement skills, including technical knowledge on legal documents and property norms.
- Recommend appropriate technical and behavioral training programs to the team and invest in self-development activities.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to promote smooth cross-functional alignment and attainment of organizational objectives.
