Upholstery Technician

About the Role

Join Marina Bay Sands to elevate your upholstery skills while working alongside experts in a dynamic environment. This position involves maintaining upholstered table surrounds and layouts throughout the Marina Bay Sands complex, focusing on efficiency and minimizing downtime within Slot and Table Games areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair upholstered table surrounds and layouts across all areas of the complex.
• Adapt work procedures to optimize efficiency, especially aiming to reduce Slot and Table Games downtime.
• Assist in the receiving and inspection of materials, equipment, and layout orders ensuring they meet purchase order specifications.
• Conduct quality control and layout inspections following departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Manage the disposal of outdated or unapproved layouts responsibly.
• Support modifications to gaming table carpentry when necessary.
• Contribute to assignments and special projects as directed, ensuring minimal operational disruption.
• Perform all tasks in alignment with Marina Bay Sands policies, mission, vision, and values.
• Carry out additional adhoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completed ITE education or equivalent technical qualification.
• At least three years of experience as an Upholsterer, preferably within the furniture manufacturing or hospitality furniture repair sectors.
• Previous experience working within Engineering or Facilities departments handling Upholstery duties.

Skills and Competencies

• Proficient in a wide range of upholstery techniques.
• Strong understanding of fabric types and classifications.
• Skilled in using portable hand-sewing tools, nail guns, hobnail tack hammers, hot-knife cutters, and other related industrial equipment.
• Basic knowledge of soft furniture frame assembly or repairs.
