Role Overview

This position reports to the Head of Underwriting Support and focuses on administrative and procedural support for Energy underwriting. The role works closely with Client Advocates and Dubai-based Underwriters to keep workflows on track, maintain data quality, and meet all required deadlines.

Key Duties

  • Handle accounting-related underwriting tasks such as premium reconciliation, premium tracking, premium aging, and system updates.
  • Support underwriters by preparing contract documentation accurately and within required timelines.
  • Check pool members’ subjectivities and run database reviews to assist underwriting decisions.
  • Keep underwriting records accurate, complete, and current in existing and newly introduced systems.
  • Help coordinate and supervise training for colleagues within the Underwriting Support team.
  • Enter policies into the Policy Operating System once documentation is received.
  • Carry out compliance checks relevant to each policy.

  • Confirm that slips are signed as directed, shared with brokers or producers, and filed properly along with slips, wordings, closings, emails, and technical notes.
  • Scan and distribute documents to brokers, producers, or cedents as needed.
  • Assist Client Advocates and underwriters with country and regional aggregate reporting, including data entry into aggregation control systems and coordination with external service providers.
  • After signed line confirmations are received, work with broker accounting teams on final premium calculations.
  • When closings are received, verify that booked premium matches the closing and that the confirmed line matches the line shown in the document.
  • Book all policies within 24 hours of receiving the signed line confirmation.
  • Process endorsements, send them out within 24 hours, and update them in the Policy Operating System.
  • Maintain both physical and digital records for endorsements.
  • Prepare and present new business slips, renewal slips, endorsements, and related email correspondence to Client Advocates and/or Dubai-based underwriters.
  • Resolve broker reconciliations and ensure no balance remains outstanding for more than one month.
  • Produce reports from the Policy Operating System or any replacement system when needed.
  • Work with Finance to address overdue debt and unmatched cash items.
  • Take on other tasks assigned by Client Advocates, Dubai-based underwriters, or management.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly management information and reports for Head Line of Business meetings.
  • Keep a record of exceptions or errors linked to data entry, missing documentation, and compliance issues.
  • Complete any other relevant duties or projects assigned by management.
  • Provide guidance to Energy Underwriting Support colleagues and help the team operate cohesively while meeting internal deadlines.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in insurance accounting, underwriting support, or claims support administration.
  • A degree or diploma in finance, mathematics, accounting, or a related field, or a professional insurance qualification such as CII.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • High numerical ability and comfort working with figures.
  • Knowledge of Access, SQL, and VBA is considered an advantage.
  • A practical, self-motivated problem-solver who can deliver work reliably.
  • Confidence and the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, multicultural setting.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate clearly at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and a hands-on working style.
