About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Traffic Management Operative to join our team supporting various traffic control projects. The successful candidate will ensure smooth and efficient operations throughout the workday while maintaining strict health and safety standards. This role demands flexibility, including working day and night shifts as well as some weekends. A responsible, proactive attitude is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a variety of traffic management methods such as give and take systems, priority control, Stop/Go boards, portable traffic signals, convoy working, road and lane closures, and diversions.
- Execute all activities in accordance with safe work practices and established procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop method statements relevant to traffic management tasks.
- Follow laid down guidelines meticulously, identify opportunities for process improvement, and communicate suggestions to the line manager.
- Perform daily inspections of company vehicles, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and proper condition for driver and passenger use.
- Maintain a positive company image by adhering to dress code, demonstrating professionalism, and keeping work sites tidy.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve site operations and safety.
- Direct and assist the public to ensure safe access through work zones.
- Recognize situations requiring management involvement and escalate appropriately.
- Strictly adhere to GTM's safety rules, including qualifications, compliance with relevant legislation and guidance, site safety checks, and immediate reporting or correction of unsafe conditions.
- Drive vehicles cautiously, respect speed limits, and park safely, safeguarding both public and road users.
- Wear required PPE at all times on site.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum Lantra 12d accreditation (TTMBC, 12d M1-M2).
- Possession of Lantra 12 a/b accreditation, IPV driving qualification, or foreman certification is advantageous.
- Demonstrated understanding of Chapter 8 and Safety at Street Works and Road Works (Red Book) regulations and their application.
- Valid full UK driving license.
- Ability to interpret CAD drawings relevant to assigned tasks.
- Mechanical skills related to traffic light maintenance are preferred.
Salary and Benefits
The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from £12.21 to £15.00, commensurate with experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package.
