With over 125 years of history starting in Newcastle, the company offers services spanning design, manufacturing, maintenance of rolling stock and rail infrastructure, as well as operation of transport networks and train systems across Australia and New Zealand.
Role Overview
We are searching for a knowledgeable and experienced Trade Assistant to become a vital part of our Mackay Workshop team. This position is permanent and operates on a 4-day work roster, ensuring full weekends off to promote a healthy work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs on heavy machinery effectively.
- Perform disassembly and assembly of complex machinery and equipment.
- Collaborate as a proactive and committed team member.
- Plan and organize workflows to ensure efficient operations and preempt potential issues.
- Work autonomously while supported by project leads and engineering teams.
- Operate under current High Risk Work Licenses, including dogging, basic rigging, and forklift handling.
Work Environment and Equipment
You will work with diverse equipment such as mobile heavy earthmoving machinery including trucks and wheel motors, fixed plant machinery like washplants and conveyor motors, field equipment such as draglines, and rail equipment including bogies and traction motors.
Candidate Profile
- Must be based in Mackay as this is an onsite role with no FIFO option.
- Hold a valid driver's license; HR Truck License is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Experience in applying protective coatings and packaging equipment for transit is favorable.
