Technical Author

Role Overview

The Technical Author will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and validating digital documents and Standard Operating Procedures in alignment with project and company standards. This position requires managing the Content Management System to maintain a reliable and centralized digital knowledge base accessible to all maintenance personnel.

Key Duties

• Author and verify technical documents using advanced editing tools to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Administer and optimize systems such as SAP, Cormap, SharePoint, and others to streamline documentation creation, approval, distribution, and publishing processes.
• Support the Program Manager in enforcing safety standards and implementing health, safety, and environment controls within assigned responsibilities.
• Ensure all documentation complies with local procedures as well as company compliance guidelines and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate closely with Maintenance Engineers, Technical Managers, and Engineering Services to secure efficient and timely approvals.
• Drive ongoing enhancements of departmental processes and nurture relationships with both internal and external suppliers to uphold the company's leadership in train maintenance quality.

Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory:

• Experience working with Digital Maintenance Management Systems.
• Demonstrated background in producing technical documentation in heavy industry environments, with a strong preference for Rolling Stock maintenance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational abilities and effective time management skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal capabilities.
• Analytical skills to interpret and assess technical information.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Desired:

• Specific knowledge of the Railway sector.
• Experience with documentation management systems within engineering contexts.
• Practical maintenance experience with trains or in comparable heavy industry roles.
