Key Responsibilities
- Perform environmental and social risk evaluations of new and existing credit proposals, ensuring alignment with sectoral risks, regulatory standards, permits, and borrower practices as per company policies.
- Identify major environmental, social, health, and safety risks and suggest mitigation strategies, including covenants and control measures to help informed decision-making.
- Develop Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs) to address identified gaps and coordinate with clients and internal teams for effective implementation and closure of these actions.
- Monitor borrowers' ongoing compliance with agreed environmental and social conditions via regular reviews, site inspections, document verifications, and escalate any deviations.
- Engage with stakeholders by advising clients on the organization’s environmental and social requirements; assist in resolving issues, implementing corrective actions, and promoting sustainable best practices.
- Generate comprehensive reports and maintain documentation such as summary notes for risk/credit committees, due diligence records, monitoring reports, and management information systems for oversight.
- Stay updated on regulatory and international environmental and social trends; contribute to improving internal policies, operational procedures, and lead both staff and client training programs to build capacity.
