Role Overview

The Talent Acquisition Specialist will manage the end-to-end recruitment process to attract and secure top candidates for the Ontario Energy Board. Responsibilities include sourcing, screening, interviewing, and facilitating hiring procedures ensuring a smooth experience for candidates and hiring managers alike. The role requires exceptional communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail. The specialist will actively build talent pipelines, craft engaging job postings, and use various recruitment platforms. Continuously improving recruitment workflows and proactively sourcing talent are key aspects of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete recruitment lifecycle from sourcing candidates, interviewing, extending offers, to onboarding new employees.
  • Ensure onboarding processes are comprehensive, engaging, and compliant with organizational policies.
  • Drive candidate sourcing through diverse channels such as networking, direct sourcing, ATS, and other relevant platforms.
  • Maintain partnerships with equity groups and community organizations to support a diverse and representative workforce.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop attraction strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in candidate pools.
  • Enhance onboarding and candidate experiences through active engagement with internal stakeholders.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to hiring managers throughout recruitment stages.
  • Partner with Communications & Engagement teams to strengthen employer branding initiatives.
  • Promote a supportive team environment that encourages collaboration and collective goal achievement.
  • Work closely with hiring managers and Senior People & Culture Business Partners to understand recruitment needs and devise sourcing strategies.
  • Offer strategic recruitment advice to aid talent development and fulfillment of organizational hiring requirements.
  • Build and nurture a pipeline of high-potential candidates for immediate and future positions.
  • Apply inclusive recruitment practices to attract diverse talent.
  • Support business strategies by assisting leadership in identifying skill gaps, structural improvements, and process enhancements.
  • Maintain positive relationships with talent pools throughout recruitment lifecycle.
  • Engage leadership to anticipate and plan for ongoing and future recruitment needs.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in Business, Human Resources Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Talent Acquisition Specialist managing full-cycle recruitment.
  • Experience recruiting within a unionized environment.
  • Preferred experience in regulated industries, utilities, public sector, or not-for-profit organizations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, and Zoom.
  • Understanding of records management, HRIS systems, collective agreements, employment/labour relations, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, influencing, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of web recruitment tools including social media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Glassdoor.
