Role Summary
The Surveyor will primarily focus on measuring land size and shape, determining the boundaries of public or private lands, and physically laying out land and building developments. This role involves surveying and modeling underground public utilities using specialized equipment while strictly following company procedures to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Key Duties
- Measure and model depths of utilities such as water, sewer, gas, cable, and electric lines.
- Review historical records and evidences to validate data accuracy.
- Research and develop surveying methodologies.
- Employ appropriate tools and equipment to measure land features accurately including coordinates.
- Create detailed maps and sketches based on survey data.
- Maintain clear communication with clients, site personnel, and management.
- Utilize diverse techniques like electrical, magnetic methods, blueprint analysis, and radar to assess utilities.
Responsibilities
- Complete surveying assignments efficiently, safely, and professionally.
- Ensure proper maintenance of allocated equipment and vehicles.
- Prepare job requirements in advance, including obtaining necessary information and documents.
- Adhere strictly to Astrea's and clients' safety protocols.
- Maintain high standards of client satisfaction and resource utilization.
- Perform Job Safety Analysis before each shift and comply with Integrated Management System (IMS) guidelines.
- Follow Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies mandated by the company and clients.
- Accurately complete all workplace documentation including hire dockets and timesheets.
- Establish and maintain effective relations with colleagues, contractors, site officials, and customers.
- Manage time efficiently and work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of two years' experience in surveying within the civil construction sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of subsurface utility engineering standards and legislative requirements.
- Experience in operating and maintaining surveying instruments and laser scanners.
