Role Overview
The Surveyor is tasked with all surveying duties linked to bridge and infrastructure construction projects. Responsibilities include precise site measurement, setup for construction works, alignment and level verifications, as-built surveys, and aiding project teams to ensure work aligns with approved plans and specifications.
Main Duties
- Conduct site surveys, establish control points, and carry out setting out for bridge and infrastructure elements.
- Perform checks on horizontal and vertical alignments for bridges, roads, retaining walls, culverts, and related structures.
- Set out foundations, pile spots, abutments, piers, bridge decks, utilities, and roadways accurately.
- Confirm coordinates, elevations, dimensions, and correct structural placement throughout construction.
- Maintain survey control networks consistently during project progression.
- Support construction, engineering, and quality control teams with accurate survey data.
- Monitor adherence to construction tolerances, ensuring compliance with design requirements.
- Assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies in field measurements by coordinating with design and site teams.
- Compile and validate as-built survey documentation for completed works.
- Contribute to progress measurement and quantity verification operations.
- Ensure surveying processes meet project specifications, client demands, and industry standards.
- Keep precise survey records, reports, and related data.
- Review and approve contractor survey submissions, providing expert recommendations when necessary.
- Facilitate quality inspections and audits pertaining to surveying activities.
- Operate and maintain surveying instruments including Total Stations, GPS/GNSS devices, digital levels, and laser scanners where relevant.
- Process collected field data to generate reports, drawings, and coordinate files using survey and CAD software.
- Maintain data integrity and accuracy on site.
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental project requirements, participating in safety briefings and initiatives.
- Ensure safe survey operations within active construction environments.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional certification or registration in surveying is preferred.
- Has between 5 to 10 years of experience in surveying for major civil infrastructure projects.
- Possesses a minimum of 3 years' specific experience in bridge construction surveying.
- Experience with GCC or Saudi Arabia infrastructure projects is highly advantageous.
- Background working with international consultants, contractors or government infrastructure entities preferred.
- Possesses thorough knowledge of bridge geometries, structural alignment and construction tolerance standards.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering and IFC drawings along with survey control data.
- Well-versed in civil infrastructure construction methodologies.
- Exhibits keen attention to detail, strong analytical capability, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Effective at communication, coordination, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and reporting skills with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
