About the Role
This is a prime opportunity to lead and transform the supply chain function for a well-established, privately owned Australian manufacturer based in Western Victoria. Operating for over 80 years, the company manufactures large capital equipment for the agricultural sector, appliances including well-known brands, and also offers industrial and contract manufacturing services. With a 30% growth in the past five years and positive future outlook, your leadership will be pivotal in enhancing procurement, inventory management, and delivery operations.
Responsibilities
- Drive supply chain strategies and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives across procurement, inventory, and delivery.
- Manage a team responsible for purchasing, stores, dispatch, scheduling, and materials planning.
- Engage cross-functionally with divisional leaders to define accurate forecasts and inventory needs in a mixed environment of made-to-order capital equipment and production-flow appliances.
- Spearhead supplier rationalization from an extensive base of several hundred suppliers and negotiate improved commercial terms to foster beneficial partnerships.
- Implement measurement and reporting systems to establish performance baselines for driving improvements in inventory turnover and delivery in full and on time (DIFOT).
- Utilize the ERP system Syspro to optimize supply chain operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management within manufacturing or construction sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement efforts with a proactive and process-oriented approach.
- Strong business acumen with the capability to develop and negotiate commercial arrangements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and open communication across various stakeholders, including shop floor engagement.
- Experience working in small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) emphasizing cultural fit and teamwork.
