Job description

Role Overview

As a Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer based in Bavaria, Germany, you will be engaged in dynamic collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams, focusing on maintaining top-tier quality standards and driving continual improvements within the supply chain. This contract role spans 3 to 6 months, expecting 30 to 40 hours of work weekly, with compensation at approximately USD 85 per hour (Euro equivalent).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Product and Process Qualification activities at supplier sites.
  • Effectively manage and resolve quality issues related to supplier non-conforming components encountered at supplier, customer, or warehouse facilities worldwide.
  • Oversee supplier management in handling non-conformance problems appropriately.
  • Support and initiate process improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and lead corrective actions through structured problem resolution methods.
  • Address and resolve manufacturing capability concerns within the supply chain to sustain uninterrupted business operations.
  • Identify and contribute to cost reduction strategies by collaborating with the Supply Chain and Strategic Business units.
  • Audit both existing and potential suppliers to assess manufacturing capacities and verify the implementation of quality systems.
  • Develop suppliers to meet current demands and future growth requirements.
  • Partner with customer-facing teams to investigate and resolve product non-conformance issues.
  • Drive product manufacturing development and improvement through regular on-site visits to supplier facilities.

Qualification Criteria

  • Technical education or advanced training in quality, mechanical, or electrical engineering fields.
  • Proficiency with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001), Supplier Quality Management, and quality control procedures.
  • Extensive understanding of manufacturing processes and drawing interpretation, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Demonstrated collaboration with design engineering teams to ensure parts are manufacturable.
  • Capability to manage multiple complex investigations simultaneously.
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of project ownership.
  • Experience managing Product and Process Qualifications and handling unexpected supplier quality challenges from start to completion.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and evaluating inspection capabilities.
  • Background working in or with manufacturing plants, especially involving critical, complex parts like discs, shafts, or intricate assemblies.

Preferred Experience

  • Track record of applying quality improvement techniques and tools, including 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa diagrams.
  • Familiarity with SAP systems.

Work Conditions

  • Required physical presence in the office at least three days per week.
