Job description

Job Overview

Salla is seeking a seasoned Staff Data Analyst to join our data organization. This role involves collaborating with leadership to pinpoint critical company-wide challenges, translating broad requirements into precise problems, and spearheading the analytics efforts that drive both revenue growth and cost efficiency. The position covers diverse domains and product lines, includes technical leadership for other analysts, and success is measured by the decisions influenced and skills fostered within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leadership to proactively uncover and solve pivotal company challenges that affect key financial metrics.
  • Lead strategic projects that cut across multiple business areas and product sets, delivering tangible business outcomes.
  • Take full ownership of complex data products and business inquiries, as well as initiatives relevant to the data organization.
  • Exercise sound judgment to prioritize and execute work independently and by guiding others.
  • Effectively handle ambiguous problems and organizational complexities, coordinating with various stakeholders at all levels.
  • Provide clear, actionable recommendations to business and product teams, moving beyond mere options presentation.
  • Shape and influence the strategic direction and roadmap of your domain through persuasive analytical insights.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships comprehensively by identifying collaborators, building alliances to impact strategy, and facilitating smooth project execution.
  • Communicate sophisticated technical details clearly and accessibly to all organizational tiers.
  • Develop and maintain critical performance metrics jointly with stakeholders and peers, upholding data quality and defining metric hierarchies.
  • Ensure the integrity, relevance, and accuracy of data used in analyses by addressing anomalies, sample size issues, and validating against internal sources.
  • Explicitly outline methodologies, assumptions, statistical significance, and confidence intervals to avoid stakeholder misinterpretation.
  • Mentor and foster the professional growth of junior and mid-level analysts.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Over five years of analytics experience, including a proven history of analyses that materially influenced business decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, including expertise with window functions and large-scale analytical databases.
  • Strong skills in Python for data analysis, utilizing libraries such as pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, and visualization tools.
  • Extensive experience with business intelligence platforms and semantic modeling, focusing on empowering users toward self-service analytics rather than just dashboard creation.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and structured reasoning applied to complex and ambiguous challenges.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders without direct authority, create coalitions, and maintain positions grounded in evidence under pressure.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring analysts and elevating team performance beyond individual contributions.
  • Strong written and oral communication prowess, capable of making intricate analyses understandable to executives.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Background in e-commerce, marketplaces, fintech, or other high-volume transactional environments.
  • Knowledge of modern data warehousing and transformation technologies such as dbt and columnar databases like ClickHouse or BigQuery.
  • Experience with event-level product analytics and designing instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with pricing strategies, monetization, or revenue modeling.
  • Understanding of version control and code review practices tailored to analytics development.
