Until is dedicated to pioneering revolutionary biological preservation technology, focusing initially on organ-scale reversible cryopreservation. This involves maintaining donated organs at subzero temperatures without ice formation and uniformly rewarming them for transplantation. The ultimate mission is to enable medical hibernation, pausing molecular processes to extend patient survival until advanced treatments become available.

The company is building a diverse team to create advanced perfusion systems, cryoprotectant solutions, controlled-rate freezing units, and vitrification and rewarming protocols for human tissues. Additionally, Until is expanding efforts toward whole-body cryopreservation research, starting with rodent models.

Until envisions a future where no transplantable organ is lost due to transport limitations and patients can safely await novel medical interventions without their conditions being terminal.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer with Until, you will be responsible for developing foundational computational and infrastructure solutions that accelerate scientific progress. Key responsibilities include designing and building data pipelines, automating laboratory interfaces, and creating scalable cloud infrastructure to support experimental workflows. The role demands ownership of projects from inception through deployment, cross-functional collaboration, and dedication to high-quality, maintainable code.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related disciplines such as Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science.
• Proven experience writing modular, maintainable, and efficient Python code.
• Strong grasp of computer science concepts, including algorithms, operating systems, and concurrency models.
• Background in backend development using frameworks like Flask, FastAPI, or Django.
• Expertise with relational databases, notably PostgreSQL, encompassing schema design and query optimization.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP and knowledge of distributed systems.
• Familiarity with developer tools including Linux command line, Git version control, and shell scripting.
• Capability to approach complex, interdisciplinary problems analytically and collaboratively with scientists and engineers.
• Demonstrated ability to manage software projects comprehensively, from gathering requirements to implementation and deployment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years of professional experience in related roles or a graduate-level degree.
• Understanding of cloud security principles such as identity and access management, encryption, and network safeguards.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
