About the Role

We are seeking a Software Developer passionate about solving complex technical challenges and building high-quality, high-performance software applications interfacing between software and hardware. This role contributes to the development of advanced sonar technologies utilized in demanding real-world conditions.

The developer will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including architecture design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing product support. The software will control, monitor, and visualize data from Kongsberg's sonar system portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Create, test, and maintain robust C/C++ software applications for Windows and Linux platforms.
Develop software directly interacting with sophisticated sonar hardware.
Implement new application features while enhancing existing software’s stability, performance, and reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues.
Author unit tests and support comprehensive system verification and validation processes.
Produce detailed technical documentation to facilitate maintainability and code reuse.
Work collaboratively with software, hardware, systems, and product stakeholders to deliver quality solutions.
Influence scalable software architecture and adopt contemporary engineering methodologies.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and continually refine development workflows.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3 to 5 years of professional experience in software development.
Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming on both Windows and Linux systems.
Deep understanding of software architecture principles and object-oriented design.
Hands-on experience with multithreaded programming and concurrent system design.
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and system-level programming.
Familiarity with Windows APIs, Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC), and embedded Linux build tools such as Yocto.
Experience using source control and continuous integration tools like Git and Azure DevOps.
Background working in Agile development environments.
MATLAB expertise considered a significant advantage.

Additional Information

Compensation range: $90,000 to $100,000 annually.
Position permanent and full-time within regular day working hours.
Work location: Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.
