About the Role
Located in Singapore, this full-time position requires a Singaporean national or a current Permanent Resident. The Shipping Operations Officer will collaborate closely with shipping, scheduling, marketing teams, and external vessel owners, brokers, and agents to ensure seamless vessel operations throughout voyages. Protecting the interests of Fortescue and aligning with the company's core values is a priority.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all operational aspects of vessels including dispatching voyage instructions, appointing agencies, monitoring Estimated Time of Arrivals (ETAs), updating IMOS system, handling freight payments, Letters of Indemnity (LOI), and managing post-fixture processes.
- Coordinate with the Marketing Department to provide vessel updates, handle requirements, and resolve disputes as needed.
- Diligently monitor vessel ETAs to streamline vessel scheduling, particularly for load-port readiness.
- Maintain close communication with scheduling and chartering teams to adjust for ETA changes, optimizing berth occupancy at Port Hedland.
- Ensure data entered into IMOS, SEDNA, and LOI documents are accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate on laytime calculations and finalize freight settlements with owners alongside marketing personnel.
- Evaluate and provide feedback on services and experiences offered by external vendors.
- Engage both internal and external stakeholders to support vessel updates, requirements, and dispute resolutions.
- Verify accurate Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting on operated vessels.
- Adhere strictly to Fortescue’s corporate values throughout all tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree holder.
- Two to three years of experience as a vessel operator with practical knowledge of vessel operations.
- Proficient in multitasking and prioritizing duties under pressure.
- Familiarity with freight and laytime calculation principles.
- Good understanding of Charterparty terms and conditions.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong time management and communication abilities.
- Experience using IMOS and SEDNA systems is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Possesses an enthusiastic, optimistic attitude with resilience and perseverance.
