About the Role
As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks, you will support the store manager in overseeing store functions during your scheduled shifts. Acting as a leader within the team, you will assign tasks to partners, ensuring the delivery of the Starbucks Experience through excellent customer service, promptness, product quality, and a welcoming store atmosphere. You will exemplify Starbucks' core principles while working in a company recognized for its positive work environment and passionate employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold integrity, honesty, and Starbucks' cultural values in all actions.
- Maintain composure during busy or unforeseen situations to keep store operations smooth and set a constructive tone for your team.
- Proactively assess customer and store needs by observing the environment and customer cues.
- Keep the manager informed to facilitate responses that support a welcoming "Third Place" ambiance.
- Support onboarding of new partners by reinforcing their successes and providing encouraging and respectful coaching when necessary.
- Provide performance feedback to the store manager regarding partners on shift.
- Contribute to a positive team atmosphere by monitoring partner morale and performance, escalating concerns to management as needed.
- Foster a learning environment by delivering clear, timely, and respectful coaching to improve partner performance and operational quality.
- Deliver legendary customer service by prioritizing customer needs and engaging with them effectively.
- Identify and respond to customer needs promptly.
- Develop strong relationships with team members by understanding and addressing their individual motivations and concerns.
- Oversee store operations throughout the shift, including organizing assigned opening and closing duties.
- Adhere to Starbucks' operational policies regarding cash handling, safety, and security to ensure partner and customer safety.
- Ensure proper cash management procedures are followed by you and your team.
- Monitor baristas to ensure consistent delivery of excellent customer experiences.
- Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ensure all beverages, whole bean coffee, and food items meet recipe and presentation standards.
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation protocols diligently for all products.
- Recognize individual and team achievements using organizational tools and collaborate with the store manager to develop creative recognition methods.
- Utilize operational systems to drive excellence during your shift.
Required Experience and Skills
- Previous customer service experience within retail or restaurant settings.
- Capability to supervise and guide others effectively.
- Quick learner with strong adaptability.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with retail operations.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
