Job description

Overview

The Shift Lead is responsible for managing store opening and closing procedures in the absence of store management, ensuring the store is ready for business. This includes handling cash operations, inventory management, and maintaining the store environment. The role emphasizes providing an exceptional customer experience and supporting team members in various operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store independently, including system startups, cash handling, and preparing the sales floor and stockroom.
  • Manage back door access for vendor deliveries and assist with receiving shipments.
  • Complete product returns, void orders, customer refunds, cash drops, and cash register change management.
  • Engage with customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving inquiries, and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate and promote excellent customer service practices among team members.
  • Safeguard store keys to open and close store when managers are absent.
  • Assist and coach team members with warehouse and vendor ordering processes.
  • Ensure accurate sales registration, including documenting scanning errors, price verifications, voids, and price modifications.
  • Support managers in reviewing order exceptions, reverse logistics, and merchandise displays, including promotional and seasonal setups.
  • Maintain precise inventory counts and oversee proper stock rotation using FIFO methods.
  • Enforce compliance with pricing standards, signage accuracy, and relevant regulatory pricing requirements.
  • Assist with bookkeeping tasks such as cash counts, reports, and bill payments as needed.
  • Help maintain store cleanliness, orderliness, and address maintenance needs in the absence of management.
  • Separate food items appropriately and follow policies for product placement and stock rotation.
  • Operate store systems and equipment proficiently; provide pharmacy assistance as required.
  • Ensure adherence to state and local regulations for controlled products like alcohol and tobacco.
  • Conduct bag checks on team members before they leave the store.
  • Comply with company policies and foster respectful coworker relationships.
  • Complete assigned special projects and training programs.
  • Serve as intermediary between management and team members when managers are absent, communicating tasks and reporting issues.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder experience.
  • Proficiency in English reading, writing, and speaking (except Puerto Rico).
  • Preferred: Knowledge of store inventory control systems.
  • Will consider applicants with arrest and conviction records.
  • For pharmacy-related duties, must obtain and maintain valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is between $17 and $20 per hour. Actual salary offered depends on location, experience, education, skills, and related factors.
