About Auckland Council and the Graduate Programme
Auckland Council is New Zealand's largest local government organisation, serving over 1.7 million people. The Council is offering a two-year rotational Graduate Programme designed for final year students or recent graduates eager to begin a meaningful career contributing to Auckland's future as a world-class city. This role is within the Shared Support Services team, which provides vital behind-the-scenes support including administration, event coordination, project assistance, and financial processing that enable teams across the Council to focus on delivering results for the community.
Programme Overview and Rotations
Graduates will actively participate in diverse rotations that cover several essential support functions:
- Deliver professional administrative assistance, including preparing reports, presentations, and other key business documents.
- Engage in event planning and coordination, supporting projects and business improvement initiatives that impact the city.
- Assist with financial processing and records management to help maintain operational efficiency.
- Develop strong relationships with various stakeholders and become a reliable resource within the Council.
- Enhance skills in data analysis, reporting, and business systems, contributing innovative ideas to improve workflows.
Each rotation balances formal and practical learning, supported by mentoring from experienced professionals, enabling graduates to build confidence and deepen expertise.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is proactive, motivated, detail-oriented, and effectively manages multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, alongside a collaborative attitude and a committed desire to learn and contribute.
Key Qualifications and Eligibility
- Possession of a relevant Bachelor's degree such as Business, Commerce, International Relations, or Political Science.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand without sponsorship for more than four years.
